Synopsis
The executive committee at Madrasah Islamiyah felt the need for a bespoke syllabus to teach children various subjects with a child-friendly approach using a level of English that is in accordance with their academic level. Keeping this in mind, Madrasah Islamiyah initiated in the year 2024, an “Islamic curriculum development project” with the vision of improving the quality of teaching and learning. Hence, a group was formed to undertake the task of doing an in-depth research on the existing curriculum and where it could be improved.
The team after spending considerable time of researching presented their findings to the Executive. The highlight of the report was that in order for the quality to improve a new curriculum will have to be developed which would enable the development of students’ mental, emotional, social and spiritual well‐being, along with promoting tolerance of different races, genders, religions and social backgrounds.
